Eyes on the Shore
It took Kayhan Golkar and Antrom Kury two years to find the “right” singer for their new psychedelic chill-wave project back in 2012. After discovering Cory Tauber and his soulful voice, a further three years passed before the group finalized its current lineup, with Erik Huang on drums and Kevin McCann on keys. As they now prepare for their third release, Maestranza, Eyes On The Shore is in celebratory spirits, and it permeates the tone of their upcoming five-track EP.
Following the self-release of their 2015 LP, A Golden Blue, the San Francisco five-piece found themselves frequently surpassing even their own expectations, opening forEdward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros in Golden Gate Park and Australia’s DMA’s at The Independent, performing to a packed HandleBar at SXSW 2016, and signing a licensing deal with the prestigious GoPro. Amidst the chaos, the group has already started releasing a steady stream of brand new singles, which will comprise their new EP.
This singlesonly approach has afforded the band an emphasized focus on the individuality of each track, and, as a result, the scope of Maestranza ranges farther than has been achieved on past efforts. This is their third consecutive studio album with producer Aaron Hellam (Hellam Sound), which, combined with their refined approach to songwriting, has yielded five songs worth of ‘all killer, no filler,’ and has already earned them over 150,000 streams across YouTube and Spotify alone.
The band's EP release party is on November 17th at Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco.
